The Graduate School of Education and Human Development offers a dual master of arts in education and human development in the field of curriculum and instruction with a concentration in elementary education and graduate certificate in literacy education program. The 12 credits earned in the graduate certificate program may be counted toward requirements for the master’s degree. All requirements for both programs must be fulfilled.

The program is designed for individuals who are entering or advancing in positions associated with elementary school leadership, teaching, learning, and development. Students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to become informed and active leaders-scholars-practitioners in elementary education and literacy education. The addition of the literacy education certificate is particularly important because literacy is central to early schooling and learning to read and write printed texts and other media.
