Mixed methods research procedures for data collection, analysis, and strategies. Qualitative research traditions considered as the basis for integrating qualitative and quantitative design components. Focus on maintaining the scientific rigor of the predominant design tradition while building in flexibility to address complex translational questions.
1. Compare and contrast epistemologies of naturalistic and experimental research traditions 2. Synthesize the scientific processes, including data collection and analysis procedures, for each of six mixed methods designs 3. Design strategies to assure rigor in mixed methods designs 4. Apply a mixed methods design to translational research questions
