International perspectives on urban planning, taking into consideration increased global temperatures resulting from greenhouse gas emissions-induced climate change. The course is taught with reference to the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and considers how urbanization around the world must adapt to the reality of global warming and its consequences.
Recognize the impact that climate change is having on cities globally Identify those cities and regions facing imminent threat from climate change related phenomena, including rising sea levels, drought, the increased frequency/power of storms, and more. Explain the short-, medium-, and long-term implications of climate change for cities and human development. Identify and advocate for policy interventions for making cities more resilient to threats posed by climate change. Identify and advocate for policy solutions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
