Domestic and international anti-corruption policy and compliance. U.S. bribery and gratuity laws, honest services fraud, government ethics laws, the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the Procurement Integrity Act, fraud actions under the False Claims Act, contractor compliance programs, mandatory disclosure rules, the suspension and debarment regime, and the implementation and enforcement of these laws and programs. International anti-corruption efforts both in enforcement and through international instruments, such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Anti-Bribery Convention,the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, the UK Anti-Bribery Act, and other emerging anti-corruption regimes are covered.
At the end of the course students will be able to: 1. Identify contemporary anti-corruption and compliance issues. 2. Understand the key laws, policies, and regulations for domestic and international anti-corruption law and policy. 3. Analyze hypothetical corruption or compliance scenarios, apply knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, and develop solutions including proposed organizational policy or business practices (e.g., compliance program). 4. Demonstrate advanced analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and writing skills.
