Overview of reproductive health policy at the federal and state levels. Balancing the interests of competing stakeholders; the fundamental underlying role of significant disparities in financing for and access to reproductive health services; and how policymaking can alleviate or exacerbate preexisting issues.
Course Learning Objectives • Review the programs and practices that combine to form reproductive health policy in the United States at both the federal and state levels and the relationship of those policies to reproductive health outcomes.. • Identify longstanding disparities that underlie reproductive health outcomes in the United States, and policy approaches for addressing those disparities. • Delineate the range of stakeholders involved in setting reproductive health policy. • Review current controversies in establishing reproductive helath policy in the United States.
