Information, techniques, and laboratory experiences related to accurate blood pressure determinations, clinical exercise testing and prescription, and other clinical assessments. Basic medications for cardiovascular disease and fundamentals of the electrocardiogram.
1. Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the role of exercise training and regular physical activity in the medical management and secondary prevention of these chronic diseases and conditions. 2. Students will demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to perform various clinical assessments and be able to process the data from such assessments as part of a comprehensive patient assessment. 3. Students will demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to develop safe and effective exercise prescriptions and supervise exercise training sessions. 4. Students will demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to understand the fundamental elements of the electrocardiogram (ECG) and recognize abnormal ECG patterns at rest and during exercise.
