Basic techniques of costume design through specific projects. Various rendering techniques consistent with the historical period concerned. Laboratory fee.
As a result of completing this course, students will be able to: 1. Develop research of period and genre into multiple, complete costumes with a consistent aesthetic; 2. Incorporate director/choreographer desires and needs, in their designs. 3. Create a complete replica of an historical garment 4. Perform the gamut of designer job responsibilities outside of garment production, including • Pitching a design concept to a director/choreographer and making adjustments accordingly; • Reporting on progress during a production meeting; • Executing a professional-level costume fitting with an actor/dancer
