This course focuses on speech acoustics, with emphasis on how the speech signal is produced and the elements of speech important for speech perception.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of the following: 1. Basic acoustics 2. The articulatory determinants of various aspects of the acoustic signal 3. The important acoustic features needed to perceive segmental and suprasegmental aspects of speech.
