Current empirical and theoretical work on gender as an organizing principle of social relations; the relationship of gender to sex and sexuality.
As a result of thoroughly preparing for and actively participating in this course, students will: - Gain a core knowledge of sociological perspectives on gender; - Develop a globally expansive understanding of key issues in the sociology of gender; - Broaden the scope of their data literacy and sharpen their skills in gathering social indicator data from national and international data bases; - Expand their oral and written communication skills in the areas of academic and public sociology.
