A survey of the literatures and cultures of China, from late Qing (the last imperial dynasty) to contemporary China and the Chinese-speaking world. Students will be introduced to works of representative writers as well as major literary genres, including fictions, poetry, dramas, and essays.Students taking CHIN 6112 will develop the ability to conduct independent research on the primary text, and to evaluate the significance of the works in cross-cultural, comparative context, by writing a 15-20 page term paper.
