Measurement of stress–strain characteristics and study of failure modes in ductile steel, brittle concrete, and anisotropic composite materials. Experiments include data collection, data analysis, and interpretation and presentation of results regarding tension, compression, bending, impact, and shear properties. Includes a significant engagement in writing as a form of critical inquiry and scholarly expression to satisfy the WID requirement. CE 3110W may be taken as a corequisite.
