Mechanical properties and behavior of civil engineering materials such as metals, concrete, and fiber-reinforced polymer composites. Properties range from plastic deformations of metallic materials to crushing of confined and unconfined concrete. Basis of the strength of materials. Concepts of creep, fatigue, fracture, and crack propagation. Includes a significant engagement in writing as a form of critical inquiry and scholarly expression to satisfy the WID requirement.
