The socioeconomic foundations of government regulation and public policy cooperation for the governance of firms, markets and globalization. The evolution of national, transatlantic and multilaterial frameworks for market and civil society governance, international competition policy cooperation, regulatory harmonization and industry standards.

The course is PPPA 6018 and the SMPP 6216 is a cross-listing. There is no other course I am aware of that considers the theory and practice of global policies and the forms of global governance used to address them, and examines the efficacy of collaborative partnerships involving business to address such issues in innovative, sustainable ways. Such multi-sector collaborations and partnerships have been expanding rapidly for over a decade. The course helps students understand the issues, and challenges, and techniques on how to assemble effective collaborations and partnerships. The course attracts students from MPA, MBA, and MAs in International Affairs and Development Studies programs. Students work in multidisciplinary teams to develop social innovations addressing global challenges using models and techniques of cross-sector, collaborative problem solving learned in class.
