Review of data acquisition and digital signal processing; mathematical models, design, and applications of sensors and actuators in mechatronic systems; theory and applications of mechanism design; microprocessor-based design integration, motor drives, and digital logic/circuits. Corequisite: MAE 6195.
At the end of the course, students will be able to: (1) Classify and analyze basic electrical components, circuits, and electromechanical devices (2) Understand the basics of sensor and actuator theory, design, and application (3) Utilize laboratory instrumentation, and construct and analyze basic electromechanical circuits (4) Demonstrate knowledge of programming and interfacing microcontrollers (5) Design and construct basic mechatronic system in a teamwork by synergistically applying mechanical and electrical engineering design knowledge and computer programming (6) Write technical reports and defend a project through oral presentations in front of an audience
