An overview of the roles and responsibilities within a typical editorial office and how these roles may vary from office to office; emphasis on the scientific, technical, and medical (STM) journal publishing sector.
Students completing this course will have:
• A deepened understanding of the roles and responsibilities of staff within a typical mid-sized
editorial office in the STM publishing sector
• A detailed understanding of procedures, policies, initiatives, resources, and typical challenges that
are present in the STM publishing environment
• A solid understanding of editorial policies and author submission guidelines, and the roles they
play in supporting the smooth functioning of an editorial office
• The ability to apply the knowledge base presented in this course to the management of personnel
and processes in an editorial office
