Principles and practice of molecular simulation; principles of structural biology; principal experimental and computational techniques used to investigate the structure, dynamics, and function of biological systems; practical skills needed to perform and interpret molecular dynamics simulations of biological macromolecules.
1. Set up and run classical molecular dynamics simulations of biomolecular systems. 2. Understand the physical and statistical principles of molecular simulations. 3. Use the GROMACS suite of molecular dynamics software and molecular analysis and visualization tools 4. Understand the hierarchy of protein structure and the role of simulations predicting protein properties.

Explanation of how the course differs from similar GW courses
Introducing the principles of structural biology along with the principal experimental and computational techniques used to investigate the structure, dynamics and function of biological systems. The main focus is on the description of molecular interactions and how they can be quantitatively modeled using theoretical and computational tools to investigate relevant problems in the domain of biophysics and biochemistry. Molecular simulations are playing an increasing role in modern biology, from understanding protein sequence-structure-function relation to designing new drugs. This course teaches the principles and practice of molecular simulation with an emphasis on the practical skills needed to perform and interpret molecular dynamics simulations of biological macromolecules.
