Study of basic physiology laboratory techniques; emphasis on the experimental study of homeostatic mechanisms in humans.
1. Describe the structure of the major organs discussed in the course and tell how the integrated cellular activities of the organ mediate organ function. 2. Describe in some detail the function of neurons, muscle cells and intracellular signaling pathways. 3. Solve problems and understand graphical representations of data 4. Develop an integrated understanding of the functions of organ systems to explain how homeostasis is maintained. 5. Learn to “think like a physiologist” – when confronted with a novel problem or data set, be able design a good experiment or synthesize a reasonable explanation for the set of observations
