The demographics, theories, and physiology of aging; descriptive and associative epidemiology of several common age-related diseases and disorders; implications for public health.
• Describe the demographics and physiology of aging.
• Explain major contributors to age-related declines in functioning.
• Understand the major risk factors for common age-related diseases and disorders, including dementia and declines in physical functioning and possible interventions to reduce the burden of these disease and disorders.
• Apply epidemiologic concepts to critically evaluate the literature on common age-related diseases and disorders.
