Seminar course dealing with molecular basis for the topics introduced in MMED 8221.
As a result of completing this course, the student should be able to:
1. Following each lecture by a faculty member (lectures will be 1-2 hours), students will participate in journal club (1 hour) to discuss, evaluate and critique a current research article (to be provided by the faculty member) related to a new molecular approach used in the study of cancer
2. Describe current state-of-the-art molecular approaches to the investigation of cancer
3. Describe current state-of-the-art genetic approaches to the investigation of cancer
4. Describe genome and computational analysis approaches to the study of cancer
5. Describe the role of animal models in the study of cancer initiation, progression and metastasis
6. Compare and contrast different molecular, computational and genetic approaches in the study of cancer
7. Describe the strengths and drawbacks of different approaches to the study of cancer
