An introduction to the use of computers in modern mathematics and a primer in basic programming skills covering Maple, Matlab, and LaTex.
As a result of completing this course a student should: • have a basic working knowledge of Maple and Matlab • be able to create documents (reports, articles, books, etc.) using LaTeX • develop some experience in computer programming using Matlab • solve mathematical problems using these languages • possess an overview of computing issues in mathematics, including current hardware and software.
