Applications of systems engineering in the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal government entities as well as commercial sectors; architectural frameworks and enterprise architecting concepts and practices, including JCIDS/DODAF, federal enterprise architecture framework, and Zachman Framework; enterprise architecting and advanced modeling tools.
Upon completing this course, students will know how to:
1. Communicate the process of architecting in the context of lifecycle modeling in systems engineering
2. Differentiate several common and special-purpose architecture frameworks by explaining the differences in their frameworks and applications
3. Explain the differences between systems architecting and enterprise architecting
4. Apply the fundamentals of an architecture framework within an engineered system
