Adaptation criteria; least mean square and recursive least square; convergence of adaptive algorithms and tracking; linear and nonlinear Kalman filters; blind source separation. Iterative (turbo) decoding and equalization; nonlinear/non-Gaussian models: particle filtering; machine learning: back propagation, support vector machines; applications in system identification, adaptive channel equalization, interference cancellation and suppression, and adaptive antenna arrays.
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
1. Understand the basic concepts and principles of adaptive signal processing.
2. Use mathematical tools to model and analyze adaptive signal processing techniques.
3. Design and simulate adaptive systems.
