Introduction to the principles governing the mathematical theory of error detecting and correcting errors occurring in the transfer of information over digital communication channels.
Upon completion of the course the student is expected to understand
• The design of error-correcting codes for the reliable transmission of information across noisy channels
• The mathematical subjects that are used in the construction and implementation of various code
• The analysis of the performance of codes used over discrete communication channels.
