Minimum variance unbiased estimation; Cramer–Rao bound, statistical modeling, sufficient statistics, maximum likelihood estimation, efficient estimators, and least squares; Bayesian estimators; Wiener and Kalman filters, complex data and parameters; applications to radar, speech, image, biomedicine, and communications, control.
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
1. Understand the basic concept and principles of statistical signal estimation.
2. Use mathematical tools to do statistical signal estimation relevant for engineering applications.
3. Find design parameters of engineering systems based on statistical signal estimation.
