Traffic models for wireless networks; wireless network architectures; physical, MAC, and link layer protocols for wireless networks; TDMA, CDMA, and OFDM-based cellular networks; third- and fourth-generation cellular networks; wireless local area networks; IEE 802.11, 802.15 and 802/16 developments; Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and WiMAX; cordless telephone technology.
Students who complete this course will be able to:

1.) Have an understanding of the mathematical and experimental characterization of the wireless communications channel.

2.) Have knowledge that will enable them to calculate the performance of such channels under various realistic conditions.

3.) Will be able to understand the architecture of various wireless networks and their interfaces to human users and data sources.

4.) Be able to analyze the key characteristics of wireless networks such as information transmission capacity, the services offered by the networks, and the corresponding quality of service.
