Development of critical academic skills for international students. Workshop topics may include grammar for academic writing, critical reading, listening and note-taking, academic vocabulary development, and discussion and presentation skills. Credit for this course cannot be applied to a degree.
• Acclimate to university life at GW and learn to access academic resources at GW • Explore how individual learning styles contribute to academic experiences • Expand usage of academic vocabulary • Develop strategies for effective listening and note-taking • Gain experience interacting in classroom settings, including informal discussions and formal presentations • Improve techniques for critical reading • Learn how to prepare effectively for exams and tests
