Researching the praxis paper. Introduces the design of research studies in applied engineering management settings from a practical perspective. Fundamentals of applied research, formulating research questions/hypotheses and research designs from empirical data.
As a result of completing this course, students will be able to:
1. Formulate testable, practical research questions
2. Write a literature review, avoiding shallowness and excessive depth
3. Critique a research paper, identifying and articulating core ideas, methodologies and designs, and contributions
4. Gain hands-on experience conducting research in an applied setting
5. Design, outline, summarize, and execute a simple applied research report that satisfies requirements from industry and academia
Similar course EMSE 8000 Research Formulation in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering is only for PhD students. EMSE 8099 is only for DEng students.
