Mood boards, storyboards, style frames, video editing, narrative structure, animation, and motion graphics for the network television industry. Design and animation methodology, processes, language, and the critique process. Project workflow, professional presentation, and professional practices for designers and animators are integrated into course projects. The semester long course project is a network ID package that includes a 10 second open, bump in, bump out, lower thirds, and in-show transitions . Adobe After Effects and handcraft tools.
Learning Outcomes - Fluency in camera tracking for kinetic sequence in motion design and animation projects. - Fluency in GoPro professional digital footage (extreme-action video photography) for kinetic sequence in motion design and animation projects. - Fluency in creating, designing, and producing a TV network identity ID package which includes: logo/ID, lower third transitions, Bump Ins and Bump Out transitions. - Fluency in creating and designing storyboards and style frames. - Fluency in using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects. - Fluency in time management, craft skills (hand and digital) for motion design/animation projects. - Fluency in process critiques and formal presentations for motion design/animation projects. - Fluency in precise hand and digital skills—craft and technical skills. - Fluency in creating and designing motion design and animation identity packages for specific time durations. - Fluency in developing work ethic, time management, project deadlines, and production workflow. - Fluency in using animation, editing & production language/vocabulary to communicate in a professional manner when presenting and critiquing work: articulate, objective, critical, and cordial. - Fluency in creating and designing storyboards and style frames. - Fluency in working with project criteria and client objectives for motion design/animation projects.
