Introduction to integrating environmental management and sustainability concepts into the operations and supply chain management fields.
Its specific learning objectives are for students to:
• Understand the impact of global supply chains on people, the environment, and business
• Utilize strategies, tools, frameworks, and models to move companies toward the vision of a sustainable supply chain
• Evaluate the trade-offs among company priorities along the supply chain and be able to recommend new practices that promote sustainability
• Acknowledge several successful industry examples of sustainable supply chains
• Recognize the importance of taking a comprehensive approach to managing a product’s entire life cycle, including product design, manufacture, and end of life
• Understand how supply chains play a major role in sustainable development
• Appreciate the challenges that supply chain managers are likely to face in the future regarding sustainability
