Designed to build psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner skills in a variety of clinical settings; integration of foundational knowledge from course work to provide safe and competent behavioral health care to individuals across the lifespan. Co-requisite: NURS 6245.
1. Determine appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques to assess, manage and treat patients with behavioral health disorder.
2. Collaborate with a clinical preceptor to select evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions in treatment of behavioral health disorders across the lifespan.
3. Develop evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment plans based on the psychosocial assessment and identified behavioral health needs of the patient.
4. Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical interventions in the care of the patients with mental disorders and behavioral or emotional problems.
