An introduction for museum professionals to the core ideas and practices of archivists and archival institutions.
Students completing this course should be able to: 1. Recognize archival materials associated with museums and museum collections. 2. Analyze the structure, content, and potential uses of archival materials. 3. Apply archival concepts to the task of arranging and describing archival materials. 4. Create a basic program for management of archival materials in a museum setting to ensure their long term preservation and accessibility. 5. Apply knowledge of archival institutions and the archives profession to the pursuit of personal research and continuing education goals.
