A multidisciplinary examination of the conceptual foundations of culture, the effects of culture on communication in comparative and multicultural contexts, and the suggested guidelines for communication competence in intercultural communication settings.
• articulate, compare, and contrast theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches in the study of intercultural communication; • design a research project to develop or test theories concerning culture’s influence on behaviors and practices; • design a training program to facilitate effective intercultural communication; • critically examine your own psychological processes and behaviors as they are influenced by the cultural contexts in which you are embedded; • develop skills to effectively communicate with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
