Graduate-level study of communication-based quantitative and qualitative research methods.
(1) have a general understanding of the types of research questions, procedures, and forms of analysis employed by scholars in communication and related fields, as well as by practitioners in fields such as marketing and consumer research, political polling, and so forth; (2) critically evaluate quantitative and qualitative research reports; (3) perform basic statistical analyses and qualitative textual analysis; (4) develop research studies about communication-related topics using quantitative and qualitative research methods, collect and analyze data, and write a research report.
