Sculptural ceramic forms that integrate quality and creativity; transferring ideas into forms using techniques in hollow and solid construction; varied temperature firings in oxidation and reduction atmospheres. Materials fee.
As a result of completing this course, students will be able to: 1. The student will produce works that explore clay as an art form. 2. Students will recognize and evaluate various techniques in ceramic sculpture. 3. Student projects will practice non-functional aspects of ceramic work. 4. As part of the course, the student will participate in and become familiar with reduction and oxidation firings as well as clay and glaze-making activities. 5. The student will develop their creative process in the field of ceramics using sketches, 3-dimensional models, or some photo-samples of masterworks may be utilized as a starting point. 6. The student will apply research into ceramic forms to their own projects.
